Our mission is to foster a supportive environment where everyone can thrive and contribute to a just and equitable society.

Empowering Communities Through Education, Vocational Skills, and Lifesaving Information
Upendo Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Bunagana, Rutshuru, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Since our founding in 2019, we have been transforming lives through education, empowerment, and community service. What began as a small initiative to support 20 vulnerable children has now grown into a movement impacting hundreds of lives across the region.
We are committed to providing quality education, vocational training, and holistic support to children, youth, and women—especially those from marginalized backgrounds. Our programs are designed to empower individuals to become critical thinkers, skilled professionals, and agents of positive change in their communities.
In 2024, we expanded our impact by launching Voice of Upendo, a community radio station that broadcasts life-changing information on health, entrepreneurship, education, and peacebuilding.
At Upendo Foundation, we believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and lead. Through our integrated programs and passionate team, we continue to create a future where no one is left behind.

What we do
At Upendo Foundation, we are dedicated to transforming lives through education, empowerment, and community service. Our work focuses on creating sustainable change in the lives of vulnerable children, women, and youth in Bunagana and beyond.
Education
We provide access to quality education for underprivileged children, giving them the tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed.
Vocational Training
Our skills programs, including tailoring, are equipping women and youth with hands-on training for sustainable livelihoods. Future plans include expanding into computer sciences and electricity.
Voice of Upendo Radio
Launched in 2024, our radio station broadcasts vital information on health, entrepreneurship, education, and peacebuilding—connecting and uplifting the entire community.
Community Service
We support vulnerable groups through outreach initiatives such as distributing reusable sanitary pads to girls, promoting hygiene, dignity, and school attendance.
Empowerment
Everything we do aims to uplift individuals so they can become confident, capable, and active members of society.
